The Texas progressive metal-core band has been on a roll recently as they ramp up to the release of their next album, Heavener. This is the third single they’ve released so far, following Shade Astray and Elysium in 2022.
They just recently had a well deserved headlining tour back in December, where they were supported by Lost in Separation. It’s great to see them getting some recognition after grinding hard since their first album, Everchanger, back in 2014.
Immolation of Night is on the heavier side of their repertoire, but still true to form with a fast and strong opening. Vocalist Markus Vik puts forth heavy harsh vocals the entire song, while Trey Celaya and Keaton Goldwire keep the pressure on with deft drumming and articulate riffs, respectively.
Markus Vik is a somewhat newer addition to the band, only joining Invent Animate back in 2019 with the release of their first single, Cloud Cascade, off their third album, Greyview. His arrival has done nothing but propel their way forward into success, with their recent signing to UNFD.
In 2021, Trey Celaya announced that he was becoming the full-time drummer for another Texas metal-core band, Fit For a King, after their previous drummer left the band. He is still heavily involved in the writing process for Invent Animate, especially since he contributes to the writing of guitar parts in addition to the drums. Brody Taylor Smith, the fantastic drummer of Atlanta prog post-hardcore band Satyr, has been filling in for Trey as the touring drummer in the meantime.
Heavener is set to release on March 17th, so follow Invent Animate on Twitter and pre-save the album here.
